#004 - Horror Movies

This time, Trevor has disappeared, so Greg and Cat sit down to talk about horror movies. Audio quality is a bit rough on this one, and Greg rambles as usual. Opening theme by Amon26 (http://amon26.bandcamp.com/)

Download here.

INDEX:
[01:10] - The show begins. Trevor has already died.
[02:15] - The Exorcist. Greg commits heresy. Greg actually hasn’t seen many haunting movies, but he has seen Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, and conversation moves on to that.
[09:15] - The Woman in Black, and the worth of having empathetic characters, compared to modern american horror. Points about Hostel and House of Wax (remake), and why those just feels gross.
[15:35] - Moves on to SAW and its sympathetic cast. (How To Write Characters.) Why the first movie is great, and why Greg can’t watch the rest. Also why Jigsaw is a supervillain.
[20:40] - Indie Horror and Found Footage Films, focussing on Blair Witch
[24:50] - Marble Hornets (https://www.youtube.com/user/MarbleHornets). Greg hates on Pewdiepie. Then ties it back into Found Footage and brings up a couple other series (TribeTwelve https://www.youtube.com/user/TribeTwelve, and EverymanHybrid https://www.youtube.com/user/EverymanHYBRID)
[27:40] - YouTube as Modern Home Movies, the New Media Revolution, Sturgeon’s Law, and why it’s hard to find cool stuff on the internet, despite it being there. Also why indie horror is hard.
[34:40] - Oh god what did I do.
[37:02] - Ending music

ERROR LOG:
[21:10] - The third Blair Witch film was planned, but never saw the light of day after the poor reception of the second. (EL: Simple mistake.)
[28:10] - YouTube claims to now receive around 100 hours of video per minute. That’s insane. (EL: Outdated info.)

Ending music is Thunderstorm Seremony by Azhrak, available from his site: http://azhrak.publishpath.com/music
